Line up:

Cult of Riggonia is a psychedelic collective from Macon, GA. There are waves of texture with catchy melodies that rise up from the primordial stew. The sound hints of Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band, Animal Collective, Gong, and African music. Their live show is a full-on sensory experience with video projections, costumes, and stuffed animals.

Gold Bolus Recordings artist Ellen O: singer/songwriter/mulit-instrumentalist Ellen O’Meara (Illegal Dads, Sweat Lodge, PPL, Rady & Bloom) puts out her first release as ellen o – sad, beautifully orchestrated tunes built around microKORG and drum machine, tied together by Ellen’s husky alto. http://elleno.bandcamp.com/album/sparrows-and-doves

CE SCHNEIDER TOPICAL is a collaborative project which combines Christina Schneider’s well-honed songwriting skills with Zach Phillips’ equally-honed engineering chops. In general, their songs are embracing, adventurous, and damn good! Navigating a strange, new space between minimal folk-pop and eroded piano-bop, They don’t seem to concern themselves with any particular genre. Rather, they achieve unity of vision without relying on easily identifiable tropes.

____________

The New Mellow Edwards is a quartet that defies traditional jazz conventions and favors primal garage rock-derived grooves, textural explorations and classically-influenced structures. The repertoire of the group can be humorous, dark, accessible and exciting, often simultaneously. Trombonist/composer Curtis Hasselbring put the group together in 2002 and the band has consistently featured the line up of Chris Speed (clarinet and saxophone), Trevor Dunn (bass) and John Hollenbeck (drums). The band has three recordings out, the first self-titled record (2006), their second, Big Choantza in 2009 (both on Skirl Records) and 2013’s Number Stations (Cuneiform) featuring an expanded version of the group.

Seven Suns is string quartet + percussion and vocals named after apocalyptic Buddhist prophecy. The sound of Seven Suns is, by turns, driven, aggressive, dissonant and hard-edged as well as contemplative, meditative, still and serene. It is rooted in the proletariat music of recent generations, such as punk and hardcore, as well as the Western classical tradition. We play the works of our members in addition to that of composers like Shostakovich, Crumb, Rzewski, Pärt, and Bach, whose music embodies spiritual introspection or social criticism.
