MODATT is a new collaborative band featuring pianist Dan Tepfer, drummer Allison Miller and saxophonist/flutist Ohad Talmor. The band found its inception in December 2011, when Tepfer, Miller and Talmor connected via the Spontaneous Construction series at the Blue Note, the concept of which is to bring together musicians who haven’t played together before. The three enjoyed the totally improvised set that resulted so much that they decided to start a band. Their music continues to be rooted in free-form improvisation, with an exceptionally wide emotional range.
