Hong Kong has a dearth of good value smaller venues for both acts to play and for punters to come to. Metal Postcard is now working with HK’s premier independent cafe group, Saffron Bakery & Cafe to create what we’re calling “Shoreditch Meets Bristol” gastropub and live music venue. Our launch gig will be on Saturday 4 May 2013 when we’ll be presenting Shanghai’s hottest new independent artist Reykjavictim (Buy Tickets from Ticketflap) after we’ve bussed people on the Trans Hong Kong Express from the Kraftwerk gig.

The venue features an open kitchen that’ll be serving good quality pub food throughout performances as well as fully licensed bar that reykjavictimincludes our range of imported USA craft beers from the likes of Rogue Ales (Oregon) as well as the wonderfully named Moose Drool & Trout Slayer Ales from Big Sky Brewery. The coffee machine will also be on all night and Saffron will be selling its usual range of great cakes, cookies, slices, pies, quiches etc..

For bands and gear heads you’ll want to know that our PA is built and imported from Australia and is designed specifically for bands playing smaller spaces. Our backline includes a Fender Classic, Ampeg SVU bass amp and classic cabinet, Gretsch drum kit, piano and a second guitar amp as well as mics and stands.

We want people to see bands and musicians in an environment that’s more than a concrete box or the other end of the scale where a glass of wine costs $HK300.

Bands / Agents / Bookers  please contact metal postcard@mail.com  for further information about playing in Hong Kong. We also work with similar independent venues in the region if you are looking to string together tours of China & SE Asia.
