Franz Hackl (on trumpet, flugelhorn) leads his own group: Franz Hackl’s IDO . A Quartet with Mino Cinelu on percussion, Matt Garrison on bass and Adam Holzman on keyboards. IDO means dialect for everybody and brings Tyrolean Folk tunes, the music he grew up with, to the world stage by developing his own international musical language by combining his tradition with Jazz, world grooves and electronics.

Nass Gnawa is the Moroccan trio Brahim Fribgane, Hassan Ben Jafar and Said Damir. They play music of the Gnawa people who are Afro-Moroccan descendants of slaves from the south. Their mystical brotherhoods and their music combine North and Black African elements.

Khaled‘s music (pronounced Ka-lid) is the definition of East meets West. Khaled seamlessly fuses different musical genres into soulful arrangements and intricate rhythms. This unique style and sound, now dubbed Alternative World Fusion, brings together the music of cultures from the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the Americas.
The latest album, “The Rabbit Hole”, proves Alternative World Fusion can be dark, sexy and Rock ‘n Roll when it’s created by musicians with the right amount of skill and lyrical depth. Khaled Dajani is from the Middle East and moved to the U.S.A. at the age of 16. On his path, he developed a unique approach to guitar playing and a keen sense for different songwriting styles. The result is a creative and uncompromising listening experience.

Drummer Carlo Costa, bassist Pascal Niggenkemper, and pianist JP Schlegelmilch join forces in a trio which explores the boundaries between composition and improvisation. Their music ranges from areas of static minimalism to dense and dynamic gestures, embracing both stark dissonance as well as open-hearted lyricism.
First set: Hasselbring / Jermyn / Sperrazza + special guest

Pastimer consists of multi-instrumentalists Andrew Frank (Guitar, Banjo, Cello, Vocals) and Sean Ryan (Drums, Keys, Bass, Backing vocals). Though the duo has been playing and performing together in various configurations since their adolescence, this project represents their first concerted effort towards consistent, mutual collaboration. Unsurprisingly, then, Pastimer’s aesthetic reflects a long, varied history of playing and consuming (and arguing about) pop music. Their sound draws together a folk-like emphasis on intricate picking and vocal harmony, highly syncopated instrumental passages, and a melody-forward approach to popular song-craft. The band currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

The outspoken Algerian songbird SOUAD MASSI is one of the most original and captivating voices to come out of North Africa in a generation, with a stylistic range that runs the gamut from Western folk, rock, and country to flamenco, Arab street pop, and the chaabi music of her home. This very special performance coincides with the 50th anniversary of Algerian independence (declared July 5, 1962). The evening begins with a set by the NYC-based Palestinian oud and violin wizard Simon Shaheen, “one of the definitive interpreters of Arab culture in the West,” (Daily News), whose new project Zafir puts all his soaring technique and melodic ingenuity on glorious display.

SoSaLa will play songs from the new CD Nu World Trash and also improvise in the moment.
