Hans Tammen’s IRON FOUNDRY consolidates tightly woven rhythms and sonic dissonances of the “low string quartet” (violas, cello and contrabass) plus percussion with bizarre textures emerging from the electronic live sound processing from Tammen’s interactive software. All About Jazz called Hans Tammen’s music “nothing short of breathtaking”, and “masterpiece of musical evocation”.

INTAR composer-in-residence Cristian Amigo brings a new incarnation of his “new music jam band” Kingdom of Jones to INTAR. Extended guitar sounds, laptop densities, memories, birds, quantum flavors, and rituals will be invoked and evoked. Applegate Guitar Blog writes, “Amigo makes music that expresses a something that might not be defined in words to good advantage. It is the multiplicity of the modern experience.”

5. Juana Cala

Juana Cala’, Dancer/Choreographer has been performing and teaching Flamenco in the United States and Europe for more than 20 years. She performed as a soloist in the Maria Benitez Dance Company under the direction of Mario Maya, and then went on to form her own company, “Ensemble Flamenco Juana Cala”, touring some of Europe’s most prestigious theatres for 16 years, with much critic acclaim. Juana has had the opportunity to work closely with acclaimed Flamenco artists such as; Antonio Canales, Javier Baron, El Junco, Alfredo Lagos, to name a few. Alma Cien Magazine once cited her as “One of the most noteworthy female ‘Non Spain born’ flamenco dancers in the world.” She has been a resident Spanish Dance Professor in various universities across the United States and currently teaches classes and performs in NYC and Tri-State area.

Ben Allison (born 17 November 1966) is a double bassist and composer born in New Haven,Connecticut. His groups include The Ben Allison Band, Peace Pipe, the Ben Allison Quartet, Medicine Wheel, the Kush Trio, Man Size Safe, and the Herbie Nichols Project (which he co-leads with pianist Frank Kimbrough). At the age of 25 he formed the Jazz Composers Collective, a New York City nonprofit organization, serving as that organization’s Artistic Director and as a Composer-in-Residence.

Rana’s mission to bring unity and understanding through the arts has taken her around the globe, from Dubai to London to San Francisco. Her stand out performance in the critically acclaimed film “No One Knows About Persian Cats” solidified her icon status with the young musicians of Iran who download her music religiously over the internet.

Sylvie Courvoisier (born November 30, 1968 in Lausanne, Switzerland) is a Swiss composer and pianist. Courvoisier was born and raised in Switzerland. In 1998, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she currently resides. She co-leads the Sylvie Courvoisier/Mark Feldman Quartet and leads her own quintet, Lonelyville, and the Trio Abaton. She is a member of Mephista, an improvising trio with Ikue Mori and Susie Ibarra; Herb Robertson Quintet, with Tim Berne, Tom Rainey and Mark Dresser; Vincent Courtois Trio, along with Ellery Eskelin; and John Zorn’s Cobra. Since 1997, she also performs regularly in duo with violinist Mark Feldman (her husband).
