Born in Beirut, Lebanon, American guitarist Raja Kassis is an integral part of the greater music community in New York City. Best known for his work recording and touring with Blitz The Ambassador and Antibalas Raja Kassis can also be heard on countless albums, soundtracks and live stages all around the world. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Raja Kassis cut his teeth for 15 years in the Senegalese underground scene in America touring with the likes of Senegalese luminaries Fatou Guewel, a.o..
The music of the AJOYO is designed to make you feel good and dance. Rhythms from West and North Africa are put together in a surprising way with one and only goal: dance. Guitar lines and horn patterns over a rhythm section that is like a groove machine: a locked drum groove, solid bass lines and lots of space for the dancers to take off.

SoSaLa consists of Sohrab Saadat Ladjevardi on tenor ans soprano sax plus vocals, and Baba Don (of The Last Poets) on djembe, congas and other percussion instruments. For Sohrab and Baba Don to play at this event is kind of a reunion.
Harold Moss – founder of the award-winning transmedia animation and live action production for broadcast TV, feature film, & digital multi-platform FlickerLab – and his colleagues are moving out to Dumbo, Brooklyn after their 15 years in Soho, Manhattan. In celebration of this move and as a farewell, FlickerLab is sponsoring a one week multimedia art exhibition: Are We Already Gone? Artists on the Art of Leaving. Featuring many artists from around the world with their works, such as sculptures, paintings, music and short films.
The curator of the show, Negin Sharifzadeh, invited SoSaLa to perform in the spirit of this exhibition’s title and theme and give some life to the art works at FlickerLab.

Oleg’s current project Orlan – which is being presented for the first time outside of his Russian homeland – is the latest illustration of the unique depth and reach of an artist who is eternally inquisitive in his creative perspectives. Don Conreaux has brought the mystical and entertaining sounds of the ancient bronze gong (tam tam), bells, bell bowls, shofar and the spiral sea horn (conch) to millions of listeners around the world for the past 40 years. He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs as a performing artist and talk show guest and worked as an actor, writer and director. Conreaux teaches the art and science of the gong, sacred conch playing, archaic polyphonic chanting and several other ancient tone producing instruments with The Mysterious Tremendum School of Sacred Sound and Intuitional Gong Yoga. Telvin’s Erkan Oğur is an indescribable talent of the music world. His vision is wide ranging, from ethnic folk music and traditional Turkish themes to rock, blues and contemporary jazz. Erkan plays traditional lutes and various types of guitar, acoustic and electric, fretted and fretless, all with the same sense of perfectionism. He has mesmerized music lovers with the fretless guitar he designed and built nearly 30 years ago. An E-bow synthesizer is frequently used to produce unique and evocative sounds chillingly similar to the ney and other flutes indigenous to Turkish music.
Telvin rarely gives live concerts. Yet, Turkish jazz lovers have talked about the band for years. Fans have eagerly awaited an album. The band’s bassist, İlkin Deniz, has been living in the USA for some years and guitarist Erkan Oğur and drummer Turgut Alp Bekoğlu felt they couldn’t go into the studio with any other bassist than İlkin. Telvin had given successful concerts in the USA, had always played collaboratively, and felt they could only realize their pieces as a unit.
