Lauren Lee is a forward-thinking vocalist, pianist, and composer based in New York City. A native of the St. Louis (MO) metropolitan area. Her interest in jazz and contemporary classical music lead her to New York University in 2009 to begin a Master of Music in Jazz Studies. By studying under greats like Kenny Werner and Gil Goldstein, she began to find a compositional and improvisational voice of her own. Since graduation, she’s continued to find her voice her three ensembles: The Velocity Duo, a completely improvised electro-acoustic bass and voice duet project; and her “Space Jazz” trio, which focuses on her classical and singer-songwriter flavored jazz compositions, and her standards trio, a guitar/bass/voice ensemble that plays jazz vocal favorites.
She will be joined by: Andrew Miramonti on guitar and Andrew Grau on bass.

Jazz saxophonist Andrew Lamb leads a unique evening of seamless performance interweaving the art of improvisation with boundless imagination. The performance is intended to create brain stimulation for those with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and post traumatic stress disorder and aims to integrate people from all walks of life into a safe, warm, and highly creative atmosphere.
Andrew Lamb’s Circadian Spheres of Light Project consists of nine professional artists who have who have studied, collaborated, and performed within all genres of music, theater, and performance art while embracing a myriad of cultures throughout the world. Having performed together in various combinations over the years, the ensemble shares the philosophy that music, art, and dance are the healing vibrations of the universe.
An accomplished jazz saxophonist and flautist in the tradition of John Coltrane, Lamb rose to prominence in the 1970s avant garde scene and has remained an active presence in Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. A frequent performer at Vision Festival, New York’s premier avant garde jazz celebration, Lamb has also performed with Cecil Taylorand Alan Silva among others.
The first public performance of the project which was originally made possible by the generous contribution of the LLL Foundation resulting in a special performance at The Institute For Music & Neurological Function on Monday, December 21, 2015.

Marc Cary’s “Harlem Sessions,” which takes place every Thursday night at the New York City speakeasy Gin Fizz, continues to gain ground in the community that the keyboardist-composer-bandleader calls home, and where he’s emerging as a leader committed to the values of the Harlem Renaissance pioneers such as Langston Hughes and Duke Ellington, in the spirit of providing fresh lifeblood to Harlem’s unique and vibrant cultural scene.
Cary began hosting the late night jam session in May 2015, opening it to musicians, poets, rappers, dancers and comedians, and announcing the song menu in advance via social media, to develop an organic and crucial cutting ground for artists. It’s a celebration of local artists, groups and composers who truly brought a melting pot of influences together; take a song like “Harlem River Drive” (by pianist Eddie Palmieri‘s super group), cultivate it, and that typifies what this session is about and how deeply its local roots grow.
Cary’s longtime rhythm section features Rashaan Carter on bass and Sameer Gupta on drums/tabla.

This is not your ordinary jam session. Each week, we aim to build and explore a new common repertoire with original arrangements in the live arena through ensemble work.

Sepideh Salehi and Kamran Taherimoghaddam are cross-disciplinary artists who work in a variety of mediums. As husband and wife, these Iranian artists have collaborated for many years, exploring themes of society, identity and tradition. The result: a body of work that is poetic and honest, with the ability to move the viewer in his or her own right.
Kamran’s minimalist approach to form explores issues of conformism and marginality in today’s society. His faceless and often deformed subjects represent the loss of identity by forces of assimilation or coercion. Influenced by the Italian Arte Povera of the sixties, Kamran’s work is as conceptual as it is contextual. Both impulsive and controlled in technique, he surpasses the mere decorative quality of art and strives to make an impact on his audience.
Sepideh is a ‘ghessegou’ (storyteller). Her lyrical style is brought to life with her numerous series, including “Portraits”, “Memories,” “War and Peace” and “School”. Mixing drippings, frottage and layering techniques, Sepideh’s works offer snapshots of her personal experiences and memories inside and outside of Iran. Mixing narrative and picture, Sepideh creates abstractions out of these unfolding events and challenges traditional testimony and illustration.
While Sepideh and Kamran often disappear the subject in their works, with Strappa, they have staged a dialogue between human beings. Using a standoff of sounds, Strappa offers a multisensory breech of tradition. Here, the male Iranian ‘tombak’ and the female sound of tearing fabric are tête-à-tête to create a live interchange with purposefully little explanation. This performance questions the relationship between men and women in today’s society without pigeonholing the spectator with elucidation.

Iancu Dumitrescu stands at the forefront of one of the 20th century’s most invisible avant-gardes: the spectral composers of Romania. Andrea Brachfeld is an American Jazz and Latin Jazz flutist.
Flutist, composer, arranger, producer, educator, business owner, Andrea Brachfeld, is a graduate of The High School of Music and Art and the Manhattan School of Music. Study with Hubert Laws, Jimmy Heath, George Coleman, and Mike Longo helped her develop her own improvisational style. Since she began her professional career as a musician at age 16, she has recorded and played many different genres of music including Jazz, Latin Jazz, Charanga, funk, Country Western, and devotional music. Some of the many artists she has associated with include Hubert Laws, Rufus Reid, Winard Harper, Paquito D’Rivera, Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Nestor Torres, Wallace Roney, Dave Valentín, Wycliffe Gordon, Hilton Ruiz, Steve Turre, Wayne Wallace, Bobby Carcassés, Oscar Hernandez, Alfredo de la Fé, Ralph Irrizarry, Joe Newman, Kenwood Dennard, and Bill O’ Connell among many others. Her breakthrough performance as the flutist for the popular Latin band Charanga ’76, catapulted her into Salsa history and fame as the first female flutist to play this music in the United States. She received the Chico O’Farrill Lifetime Achievement Award from Latin Jazz USA in Oct. 2006 and the “Pionero Award” in 2010 for her contribution to Latin music. Her most recent award, “Tribute to the Charanga Flutes,” given by Charanga Legends USA, was presented to her in August 2012. She has six CDs out as a leader featuring Latin and Jazz greats Oscar Hernandez, Alfredo De La Fé, Chembo Corniel, Hilton Ruiz, Steve Turre, Pedrito Martinez, Mike Longo , Paul West , Brian Lynch, Wallace Roney, Wycliffe Gordon, and Bill O’Connell.
Andrea is the cousin of former New York Yankee Michael Brachfeld.
