Maziar “Maz” Jobrani alias JIMMY VESTVOOD, born in Iran and raised in California, is one of the funniest Iranian comedians in the US. He talks about his Iranian roots, racism/race relations, Islamophobia, Muslim-Americans, Iranian Americans. His comdy style is called observational comedy and satire.
He was part of the “Axis of Evil” comedy group which appeared on a comedy special on Comedy Central. Jobrani has also appeared in numerous films, television shows, including Better Off Ted, on radio and in comedy clubs. His filmography includes roles in The Interpreter, Friday After Next, and Dragonfly.
Many Iranian Americans have turned to the arts as a means of criticizing the status quo both in Iran and in the US. Among them is Jobrani. He has been supporting and promoting the revolution in Iran which started in June of last year.
