Another Icon left us this year on Monday: Pete Seeger

Text by John Pietaro

I was saddened to learn of PETE SEEGER‘s passing. His tireless activism, paired with an encyclopedic knowledge of folk music created the modern concept of the protest singer. I had a number of occasions to work with Pete and wrote about him opver the years too. I couldn’t have been more please to see that a number of Gannet newspapers ran an obit that featured some of my remarks about the man. These were from that 5-year period when I was living in Beacon, near where Pete made his home for decades. Frankly I cannot recall which interview my quotes came from but I am glad to be a little bit of his amazing history: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article/20140128/ENT0401/10270303/Seeger-made-profound-impact-on-labor-movement
