AND LIVE PAINTING by MASM and Yuki Abe

Quickly Quietly formed in 2011, at the end of the year they released their debut Seven EP. The band first played together in prospect-lefferts garden and continued grinding out improv sessions into a fresh sound from analog drum machines, deep guitar and heavy rhythms. The new sound, exemplified by the track “Nothing But Air,” is very electric and very live. Lautaro on drums and samples, Paul on bass and keys, Aaron on guitar and vox. Each member serves double duty to the music creating a eclectic sound and a wide palate, uncharacteristic of a rock trio. If there was an ethos to the band it would be song, texture, rhythm, electrified. Quickly Quietly are:  Aaron Hyzen (guitar,vocals/leader), Paul Sikivie (bass & synths), Lautaro Burgos (SoSaLa, drums ), Greg Zweiben (SoSaLa, synths & percussion)- This band plays edgy indie-esque rock.

4. Anders Nilsson – Marco Cappelli Guitar Duo & Hashtag Blessed

Time: 8:30 pm
Venue: Freddys Bar (627 5th Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 718-768-0131)
Ticket: $10
Genre: jazz/improve

8:30pm: 1-on-1 series, where one player selects a duo partner for the night, On The Way Out presents guitarists Anders Nilsson from Sweden and Marco Cappelli from Italy on acoustic alto guitars, 11 and 13 strings respectively. The alto guitar is a quiet and richly sonorous nylon string guitar designed by Swedish luthier Georg Bohlin in the 70′s. It has the regular 6 strings up a minor third and a slew of extra bass strings tuned down a scale of the player’s choice. In a sense it’s a lute-guitar and is most often used by guitarists when they play renaissance, baroque and new music. Tonight Anders and Marco will play an unplugged set on these rare axes.

10:00pm: Hashtag Blessed is an improvisational rock trio consisting of guitarist Aaron Dugan (Matisyahu, Bill Laswell), drummer Jason Loewenstein (Sebadoh, The Fiery Furnaces) and bassist Reid Taylor (Balk, The Flail). The trio have worked together for a few years recording and performing in Reid’s rock band “Balk”. This is their first time performing together in this fashion. You can expect singular, no-frills improvisation from this unit.
