The first open Musicians For Musicians (MFM) meeting will be hosted by president and musician Sohrab Saadat Ladjevardi and attended by some of the board members. The purpose of this meeting is to let musicians know that they have a “home” in NY. Make them understand that that there’s an organization which is run by their own peers who care for them and understand their needs. And it’s about “US” as a business league which is represented by the MFM.

The meeting’s agenda will be as following:

1. Introduce the president and the MFM organization
2. Discuss the MFM’s mission and member code of ethics
3. Discuss MFM’s first goals (one of them is to announce the 1st fundraiser event in February 2016 where some members will play)
4. Present opportunities and benefits for members
5. Discuss the importance of pay for gigs

Attending musicians are welcome to speak out about some of their issues

Every musician who reads or hears about this meeting should show up and find out whether he or she wants to be on board. MFM invites you to become a member, because it’s your home – run and financed by you – and only numbers can only make change in our musicians lives.

Roshel Rubinov, the master Bukharian singer, composer, and instrumentalist, presents a rare concert of classical Central Asian music, known as maqom. Performing both traditional music and original compositions, Rubinov will play both tanbur and guitar and will be joined by his brother Yakov Rubinov, an expert doira (frame drum) player; Ilya Khavasov, one of NYC’s leading Bukharian singers; and dancer Shahlo Khudoyberdiyeva.

Eric Fraser (http://www.ericfraser.com/) presents a taste of authentic Kolkata tradition with his sweet bansuri sound and accompaniment by Bengal’s own Shivalik Ghoshal on tabla. Eric has trained and performed extensively in the rarely heard gayaki, or vocal, tradition of indian flute with Pandit Gopal Roy, while Shivalik’s dynamic and rich tabla playing is the result of many years of training, currently under the renowned Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. This collaboration will deliver a thorough rendition of ragas and rhythms in a classical style by contemporary musicians.

“We recently premiered a “rough draft” performance of the Double Trio during the closing night of my residency at Roulette, which was met with overwhelming success. I am very much delighted to present this project in its final, unabridged form during my residency at SEEDS in Brooklyn (9 – 12 December), in preparation for a recording of the work to take place on the following day. There will be only four readings of the Double Trio (one per night – 90 minutes in duration), and an additional premiere of a work of relatively recent vintage that also features this ensemble (Friday and Saturday only). I really hope to see you all there during our SEEDS residency… Thanks for your continued support of the work!

7. Twindrum feat. Yoshimio and Ikue Mori

Yoshimio and Ikue Mori met in the 80’s in Osaka, and have been involved together with different projects throughout the decades. Twindrum is project that started in Brooklyn in 2013, and performed in Japan in 2014.

YOSHIMIO is an original member of the world’s most radical experimental music group BOREDOMS from Japan. Yoshimi is known as a drummer but is a multi instrumentalist who also plays guitar, a keyboard, trumpet, and her own voice.  She is also the leader of the  experimental band OOIOO, a member of Free Kitten with Kim Gordon (ex. Sonic Youth),  and Saicobaba – a improvisational band which uses electronics mixed with traditional Indian musical instruments.

Natalie creates music as Unicornicopia, her solo performance-art moniker. Wielding processed accordion, synths, samplers and armfuls of effects units, Unicornicopia’s “danceable, insistent music that people will want to hear” (TimeOut NY) has also been presented in gallery settings including PS1: MoMA, Human Resources, and Ramiken Crucible Gallery, where she lived and worked. While a resident, she arranged an improvised polyphonic saxophone piece for 5 female voices, built a VHS instillation featuring outsider-artist R. Stevie Moore, and composed a long-form piece for omnichord, mbira, drums, samplers, keyboards and processed vocals. Projects include collaborations with members of Wooster Group, Psychedelic Furs, Fischerspooner, Santigold, ICE, Xiu Xiu, Chairlift, Glasser, Aur Revoir Simone, Elevator Repair Service and Radiohole.

Statements like “upstate New York singer songwriter Erica Quitzow gives her cello and Moog art whimsy a bubbly groove and defiant summer strut” from Spin Magazine and “Prince meets Pavement” from Limewire aptly describe the joyous sound created from unlikely instrumentation: an MPC 2000, analogue synthesizers, and cello. This music has appeared in The Amy Schumer Show, Comediens in Cars Getting Coffee with Jim Carrey and Jerry Seinfeld, 4 episodes of Gossip Girl, has been featured on Arte TV in Germany and France, and has been toured internationally.

Kidaudra is a Producer / Singer Songwriter from Cleveland, OH. Kidaudra’s music pulls elements from 90’s Dance Music, New Wave, with a touch of R&B. As Kidaudra performs her pop renderings, she uses a vocal looper to build stunning back-up harmonies before she soars over-top with glittery pop vocal hooks. Kidaudra delivers a brand of emotional Pop that only gives good vibes, and asks nothing in return, but leaves you feeling happy. A couple influences come to mind while listening to Kidaudra’s music; Depeche Mode, Ace of Base, Mariah Carey with Space Music. Now, Kidaudra is nearing the completion of her debut LP, set to be released in 2016. Be not worried my friends, Kidaudra has three EPs available for download via BandCamp (link above); Unknown EP ( Jul. 2012 ), Ache ( Aug. 2014 ), and A U R Y N ( Mar. 2015 ). 9. Blood Drum Spirit

Blood Drum Spirit performss at Andrew Drury’s space, the soup ‘n sounds series. The ensemble includes saxophonist David Bindman, bassist Wes Brown, pianist Art Hirahara, and percussionist Royal Hartigan. Filmmaker Steven De Castro will be also present who did some of the videos from their Ghana 2015 tour.
