My dear readers!
I’m sure you’re informed about what happened in my Japan which I left almost three years ago. But let me describe me the present situation shortly.
The aftermath of a massive 9.0 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, which happened last Friday March 11th, severed electricity to the Fukushima Dai-ichinuclear complex 170 miles (270 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo, and crippled its cooling system. Then, backup power did not start properly at one of its units. But crisis after crisis continued to develop or be revealed in the nuclear plant…conditions steadily worsened… explosions happened resulting in radiation leaks…people close to the plant had to be evacuated.
Without power, and without plant pipes and pumps that were destroyed in the explosion of the most-troubled reactor’s containment building, the government decided to draw seawater in an attempt to cool off the overheated uranium fuel rods.
Since Friday I have been trying to find out what has been happening over there. Calling my friends in Osaka and Tokyo to find out more about the crisis, didn’t help me at all. None of them could give me good answers. They told me that they were fooled by the Japanese government which didn’t show any leadership especially in the first two days. Mr. Kan, the Japanese prime minister, had no idea how to handle this crisis. The Japanese media even assisted the government in distributiing false or incorrect news to the Japanese people. Up to now the Japanese authorities have no clue what to do which is unbelievable.
With all this said, I do believe that the Japanese poeple still have the power to get out of this mess. They have the intelligence and ability to make things happen. They got culture and creatediki, wabi sabi, michi or do and more.
Anyway after living for a long time in Japan I feel very sorry about the Japanese. And my thoughts are with the victims and their families. The only way to express my strong and deep feelings for them and my friends in Japan, is through my sax.
