OneBeat – a partnership between the US State Dept. and Found Sound Nation – in its second year, has brought 25 young musicians from around the world to the US to form new ensembles, write new material, record new tracks, and colloborate with American musicians in DC, NYC, and other stops along the east coast (tour linked below). They’ve been in residency for about week in Florida, and their tour kicks off later this week. This video explains the program and illustrates how this type of tour/collaboration translates into real, person-to-person diplomacy.
