Follow Up of NY’s Brass Band The RED BARAAT

RED BARAATRED BARAAT a unique (brass) band with a unique sound. A hardworking band for about 6 years.
Please watch the two videos below which will tell you visually the new musical developments of this band. This band could be a role model of “how to succeed in today’s music business.”

What’s so great about this band is that they are not afraid to experiment with new sounds and musicians. Not maintaining the status quo, repeating themselves but reinventing themselves. By doing so they may lose some fans who can’t accept the new musical changes, but this is something a band should never consider as a minus in their career.

Since 2011, each annual edition of the Viennale (Vienna International Film Festival) has featured the granting of the MoreVALUE Film Award to one or more Austrian filmmakers whose films are included within the festival. The Award brings a cash prize as well as a one-month residency as a visiting film scholar hosted and organized by the Deutsches Haus at NYU. The screenings are co-organized by the Deutsches Haus at NYU and the Austrian Cultural Forum New York. The filmmaker will be there in person to present her work!

Mike Pride, born and raised in Southern Maine, but based out of New York City since 2000, Mike Pride currently leads modern-jazz quartet From Bacteria To Boys, the 7-drummer installation-band Drummer’s Corpse, and the piano trio I Hate Work.  He records for AUM Fidelity.  Pride is renowned for his ability to excel in a wide range of genres and ensembles. He has worked with everyone from improvised music icon Anthony Braxton to punk legends Millions Of Dead Cops, toured extensively on four continents and appeared on more than 85 recordings. Event Review: Musicians Join Forces to Help Nepal

In April 25th, 2015, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8M hit Lamjung Nepal. It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake. An avalanche on Mount Everest was triggered, killing at least 19 people, and another avalanche was triggered in the Langtang valley. The quake affected Bangladesh, India, and China, with approx. 8800 dead, 450,000 displaced, and damages estimated at over $5 billion (USD – 20% of Nepal’s GNP).

We need you to get involved! FIRE MUSIC, a documentary that tells the criminally ignored true history of the Free Jazz revolution, has been fully researched and has been shooting for over 4 years. Over 300 hours of footage has already been shot.

“Free Jazz is liberation, is the excitement of the new and now,” says Thurston Moore, executive producer of FIRE MUSIC. “It is with respect, passion and knowledge that Tom Surgal captures the significance of it. His work, like its subject, shines for the collective call of beauty and unity.”
