DooBeeDoo Endorses: the 9th NY Gypsy Festival’s Fundraising campaign!

Dear Friends & Supporters!

We are only a few days away form this year’s Gypsy Festival and turn to you today to consider donating to the ninth edition of the NY Gypsy Festival. Over the years NYGF has continued to grow as a grassroots festival supported purely by ticket purchases and without receiving any major sponsorship. For this year’s festival we have created an Indiegogo crowdsourcing campaign to supplement the ticket purchases so we can continue bringing you top notch performances with bands from different genres and corners of the world. Perks include festival passes, music from participating artists, t-shirts and special VIP packages. It is our intention to continue our labor of love and offer you the culture of a people and hope that you welcome them, as we do, with open arms. Thanks for your support in advance.

A Message from the Producers:

The History

Every year in September the annual New York Gypsy Festival brings Gypsy and Gypsy-influenced artists from Europe, the Near East and North America to New York City for three weeks of the colorful Gypsy spirit. Since 2005 when the inaugural festival launched, NYGF has been extremely well received and, as a result, built a loyal community with performances at prestigious venues like SummerStage, Central Park De La Corte Theater, Symphony Space, NYU Skirball Center, Joe’s Pub, City Winery, Drom, Knitting Factory and Le Poisson Rouge. There are only a handful of  international music festivals in the US that have created the excitement and splash NYGF did.

The Facts

In its first eight years, a total of 18 venues hosted more than 100 artists, while 30,000+ people have attended the shows. Over 30 international artists from India to Mexico took part in the festival so far including Ivo Popasov, Gogol Bordello, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Slavic Soul Party!, 17 Hippies, Balkan Beat Box, Beirut and highly touted US Debuts by bands like Watcha Clan (France), Mahala Rai Banda (Romania) and Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino (Italy). Press highlights include TimeOut NY, Newsweek, Wall St Journal, Spin Magazine, NY Times, Salon.com, Village Voice, WNYC, NJ Star Ledger, National Geographic, New York Press, Paper Magazine and many more.

The Funds

We are committed to raising $5,000 to help contribute towards expenses of this festival and ensure that it continues into the future. Funds raised from this campaign will go towards promotional & production costs, engineers, publicity and other expenses affiliated with the festival.
