Called “rustic and worldly” by the New York Times, Skye Steele‘s songs range from quotidian confessional to surreal deep-space sound explorations. His rough hewn voice and otherworldly fiddling are the yin and yang of this unmistakeable performer. His new record Up From The Bitterroot is set for release in January on HouseTown.

Multi-instrumentalist Nate Wood has been making music for most of his life in almost every genre. Nate graduated from the California Institute of the Arts, where he studied drums, bass and guitar with Jazz luminaries Charlie Haden and Joe LaBarbara.
His first solo album, Reliving is truly self-made, featuring his compositions, singing, engineering/producing, and Nate playing all the instruments. He followed with another solo album, Fall. Nate began engineering during the production of his solo albums, and this quickly turned into a busy schedule of recording and mixing for other bands, which eventually led to mastering. His mastering credits can be found here.
He is a founding member of the Grammy nominated group Kneebody, with their debut recording on Concord Records, The Line, to be released in September 2013. Nate engineered all previous studio albums by Kneebody, including Kneebody, Low Electrical Worker, and You Can Have Your Moment.
Nate toured the world many times over with pop/rock band The Calling and he has performed and/or recorded with artists including George Harrison, Wayne Krantz, Tigran, Donny McCaslin, John Tesh, Chaka Khan, and Sting

The Middle-Eastern lute, oud, and its music is analogous to a language with many regional vocabularies and accents. Oud Summit will showcase the talents of four Mid-Atlantic oud players who have all developed a unique take on one of the oldest stringed instruments in the world. Adam Good, Mavrothi Kontanis, Kane Mathis, and Brian Prunka have two things in common, they all have pursued intense study of middle-eastern music, theory, and performance, and they have all created live performances that incorporate the unique personal, and regional inspirations that each musician has encountered throughout the course of his study. Don’t miss the first Oud Summit for a chance to see the many facets of this diverse and beautiful instrument through the lens of these forward-thinking players. This concert is dedicated to the memory of the late Haig Manoukian, one of the most important oud players of his generation. Haig was a loved and respected contributor to the New York Middle-Eastern music scene since the late 1970’s and was a huge inspiration to generations of oud players.

Hildegard is a venturous collaboration between two of the leading voices on the New Orleans progressive music scene, vocalist Sasha Masakowski and guitarist Cliff Hines. Together the two have created genre-defying original music that seamlessly fuses progressive-rock and art-pop with contemporary jazz. Compositions are dynamic and compelling, Sasha’s airy vocals singing catchy melodies with bold lyrics over a bed of lush harmonic and rhythmic structures while Cliff creates wild guitar soundscapes. They will be joined by G Maxwell Zemanovic on drums and special guest Jordan Scannella on bass. www.hildegardband.com
AStridd is a new band based in Brooklyn, NY comprised of founding members lyricist/vocalist Jill Peacock (Canada) and guitarist/composer Yasser Tejeda (Dominican Republic). Their debut EP, “Colliding Galaxies” was released early in 2013, and they have since been performing throughout NYC to promote their album. AStridd’s sound features lush arrangements and heavy driving guitar balanced with delicately soulful vocals and visceral lyrics. With their simultaneously dynamic and intimate live shows, aStridd’s Colliding Galaxies is a soulful psychedelic jazz/rock trip you wont forget. astridd.com
