The Japanese experimental piano/percssion duo ABYSM incorporates improvisation, compositions, electronics, objects and visual elements into their performances. Their music is very unique and something special in contemporary music scene. Each song tells a specific story which is expressed by certain chosen sound textures which help the listener to visualize the story.

AUKTYON – the unique phenomenon on the contemporary music scene of Russia: in contrast to the majority of genre-challenged and as a rule stylistically within the framework of contemporary canons, this group draws its inspiration from such remote sources as ska, reggae, new-jazz, ethnic music of North Africa and Middle East, beat- and pop-music of the 60’s; in spite of the eternally present messianic idea in Russian rock and its inherited didacticism, this group did not teach as much as it entertained, which apparently resulted in it being the only representative of Russia on the European club scene.

Ibrahim Maalouf was born into a family of intellectuals and artists; he is the son of trumpeter Nassim Maalouf and pianist Nada Maalouf, nephew of the writer Amin Maalouf and grandson of journalist, poet and musicologist Rushdi Maalouf. He is noted for playing Arabic music with quarter tones on the trumpet, which is a rare skill, pioneered by his father in the 1960s.

Nass Gnawa is the Moroccan trio Brahim Fribgane, Hassan Ben Jafar and Said Damir. They play music of the Gnawa people who are Afro-Moroccan descendants of slaves from the south. Their mystical brotherhoods and their music combine North and Black African elements.
