What would you do for love? In the pits of Hell, Baliel, a lost soul, must prove his worth or else spend the rest of eternity in the lake of fire. In order to spare his own horrific demise, Baliel goes out in search of a willing person to swap spots with him, and as a result comes upon Emma, a fledgling Harlem Gospel singer from a troubled background with big dreams of fame. As Emma works through the trials and tribulations of erecting a career with her group, Baliel appears with big promises and a plan for fame and fortune. The two embark on a joint quest to achieve both of their missions, and what once began as a task for Baliel to find his replacement quickly takes a complicated turn as he must decide between unconditional love and Diablo Love.

Blazing new trails for female percussionists, Taalika is the world’s only female tabla ensemble, bringing women tabla artists to the forefront as performers of a male-dominated instrument.
The Taalim Tabla Duet artists are also members of Talavya, a globe-trotting percussion ensemble raising the profile of tabla worldwide. Based in New Jersey, the ensembles are associated with the prestigious Taalim School of Indian Music (www.taalim.com).
TAALIKA – WOMEN OF TABLA
Taalika is comprised of Jin Won of South Korea (also an accomplished kathak dancer), Sejal Kukadia of New York and Heena Patel of Canada. Each artist’s story is unique, but shares the common thread of uncovering a love for tabla as an adult and spending years in India learning in the traditional guru-shishya parampara under the tutelage of Pandit Divyang Vakil. Both Jin and Sejal have authored books on tabla and are teachers at the Taalim School of Indian Music.
TAALIM TABLA DUET
The Taalim Tabla Duet is comprised of Kaumil Shah and Michael (Mike) Lukshis. A native of Ahmedabad, India, Kaumil has devoted his entire life to tabla. When he is not playing or teaching tabla, he is transferring Indian rhythms onto the djembe. New Jersey native Michael Lukshis’ quick rise as a tabla player is a testament to his dedication and the unique teaching pedagogy developed by his guru, Pandit Divyang Vakil. After only 7 years of training, Lukshis was able to join his Indian (and senior) gurubhais to perform in Pandit Vakil’s ensemble Talavya. Both Kaumil and Mike are music educators at the Taalim School of Indian Music.
