They are lead by the rather open minded songwriting style of Singer-Song writer, Ricardo “Tribe” Ricketts. The band also just happens to have one of the wickedest RYTHYM SECTIONS around as well as a great pair of Guitarists, a fine Keyboard player and amazing percussionists.

Guitarist Mick Taylor was neither an original member of the Rolling Stones nor still in the band when it began selling out sports stadiums in the late-’80s and ’90s. But the sophisticated jazz and blues-influenced guitar licks Taylor added to such classic albums as Sticky Fingers gave the Stones an added dimension they lacked before and after him.
4. Electric Literature presents: The Golden Palominos (with The Wingdale Community Singers and The Walking Hellos)
Reuniting to play live for the first time in more than two decades, The Golden Palominos 1985-87 lineup with Syd Straw will join local literary rockers in unveiling Electric Literature’s 4th fiction anthology. Featuring The Wingdale Community Singers, with author Rick Moody on guitar and vocals, and Brooklyn indie-rockers The Walking Hellos, featuring Myla Goldberg (best-selling author of Bee Season) on banjo and accordion, celebrating their CD release. Electric Literature’s mission is to use new media and innovative distribution to keep literature a vital part of popular culture.

Sones de México Ensemble made its first public appearance in 1994 at an art gallery in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, commemorating the death of Mexican land-rights revolution hero Emiliano Zapata. Chicago, with its well-known patronage for the arts, a one-hundred-year-old history of Mexican immigration and the second-largest Mexican immigrant population in the U.S., was fertile ground for the ensemble’s development.
The group’s repertoire is firmly rooted in the Mexican son tradition (a family of regional styles of Mexican folk dance music), and it also shows some playfulness in its experimental forays into non-Mexican traditions. The group’s repertoire occasionally tests the limits of the style by doing son “covers” of everything from flamenco, Country & Western, hard rock, Irish jigs and even the American folk classic that became the title track of their new CD.
Fiesta Mexicana invites anyone interested in good, fun music and stories for any age to join this musical adventure. As a showcase of traditional and classic Mexican folk tunes, it can also work as a celebration of identity and pride for young Mexican-Americans.
