Ali Boulo Santo Cissoko & Volker Goetze – A Dialogue

There are encounters on stage that are more than just musical collaborations. Undoubtedly, this was the case for the concert by Ali Boulo Santo Cissoko (Kora) and Volker Goetze (trumpet) last Wednesday at K9 in Konstanz (Germany). The duo demonstrated just how deeply music can resonate when it is grounded in mutual understanding.

Mohamed Badawi’s road movies.

The road movie Streets of Cairo was made and produced by Mohamed Badawi (Sudan) and Hubl Greiner (Germany) in January 2007, when both of them recorded at the studio of the Cairo Academy of Music  at the University Asyout. The soundtrack is from Mohamed Badawi’s CD D’Omdurman à Timimoun.

Hubl Greiner – leader of the legendary Dada German band “The Blech”

I can’t remember when and how exactly I met Hubl Greiner, a German musician, composer and brain of the experimental-dada-world fusion band The Blech. But what I remember, is that when I met him for the first time  I lived in Tokyo. I was a musician myself and earned my living teaching English and German and writing as a freelance music journalist for Japanese music journals.
