Justice for Jazz Artists will be out in force again on Thursday night, June 27 as they continue in their push to convince NYC nightclub owners to do the right thing and meet with us to discuss pension and other issues of fairness for musicians who work in their venues.
As their campaign continues to grow (54,000 Facebook “likes” at last count!) they need your help in bringing a message to club owners: jazz musicians deserve to be treated with fairness, dignity and respect.
- Dozens of jazz musicians retire every year with little or no assets, no social security, and no retirement benefits.
- Jazz clubs continue to record performers live in their venues with impunity. Side performers in particular have no say in what happens to these recordings, which can be sold to the highest bidder with no protections for new or future use.
Come out on Thursday night and march with them and the J4JA Jazz Band as they bring their message to NYC Jazz Clubs and show that they will not be silent on this issue.
