Featuring Malian singer and percussionist Makane Kouyate, Denbaya (which means family in Bambara) performs captivating, original compositions that defy easy categorizations. Steeped in the West African rhythmic and musical tradition, Denbaya plays tunes with influences that range from jazz and rock to reggae while remaining true to the spirit of Malian music.. The band includes singer, and djimbe player Makane Kouyate, pianist John Austria, saxophonist Marco Chelo, guitarist Keith Gamble, balaphone player and arranger Balla Kouyate, drummer Vince Warren, and percussionist Jose Rosario.

After making his professional debut recording and performing with life-long friend and musical mentor Olu, Jeremiah went on to found earthdriver. Since the inception of the project, Jeremiah has toured with Grammy-nominated blues/jazz legend James Blood Ulmer (who “discovered” both Jeremiah and drummer Swiss Chris at earthdriver’s third gig), first as part of his “Raw Blues Experience” and then as part of “Memphis Blood”, a project co-starring black rock pioneer Vernon Reid.

First Prize winners of the 7th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 2011, top prizewinners and Listeners’ Choice Award recipients in the 2011 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and winners of the Alice Coleman Grand Prize at the 60th annual Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition in 2006, the internationally acclaimed Attacca Quartet has become one of America’s premier young performing ensembles. They made their professional debut in 2007 as part of the Artists International Winners Series in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. They currently serve as the Juilliard Graduate Resident String Quartet, and are represented internationally by Columbia Artists Management, Inc.

Skye Steele’s GLORIOUS SUNSHINE. The violinist is best known for his work with Nation Beat and Howard Fishman as well as playing with Ben Allison, Cyro Baptista, Butch Morris, Willie Nelson, Rufus Wainwright and Duncan Sheik. He is also a songwriter and his new release, Glorious Sunshine, is a collection of folk-art songs fracking the substrata of love, regret, and betrayal. His band is a ensemble of composer-performers, improvising together to create layers that underpin and uplift these haunting songs. With: Ilusha Tsinadze (guitar, banjo, mandolin, voice), Dana Lyn (viola, piano, voice), and Liam Robinson (accordion, piano, voice), Skye Steele (violin, guitar, mandolin, voice).

In SoSaLa, front-man, saxophonist and vocalist Sohrab Saadat Ladjevardi blends melancholic melodies with those of his native Iran. Fueled by improvisation, with lo-fi electronics, the diverse instruments make for an ambient and psychedelic take on World music.

The SoSaLa members are: Sohrab Saadat Ladjevardi on tenor sax and vocals, Rob Fontana on keyboards, Luke Stewart on bass and Louie Rozier on drums.
